Hello Reader, I’m blown away by the support for the new edition of my book, Managing Multiple Projects. Thank you, everyone who sent messages – it really feels like this book has touched a nerve! I think, as a profession of exhausted people, perhaps I’ve managed to create something that has come at the right time. The book has been completely reviewed since the first edition in 2022 and now includes content on working in remote teams, AI, sustainability and a lot more topics that keep us relevant as people who are valuable to our organisations. As well as those emails, I got a lot of questions, so I figured I’d answer some. Q: What real experiences are in the book? A: I did a survey last year and the results of that are discussed in the book (you can read a summary here). Plus there are lots of real-life stories. There are 25 people quoted in the book, from expert contributors to project managers like you. Q: I work in healthcare/finance/IT/something else. Is there anything for me in the book? A: Yes! The book is not industry-specific. You can use the tools regardless of whether you work with agile or linear projects, or projects where you kind of make up the approach as you go along. Q: Can I get it in the US? A: Yes, Kogan Page has free UK and US delivery. If you order through the publisher you can get a free ebook version if you buy a print version. But you should be able to buy it wherever you prefer to get your books. Let me know if you have problems tracking it down. Q: Is there an audio version? I don’t have time to read a book. A: I wish! There isn’t yet. That might be possible in the future though. If you’re ready, Managing Multiple Projects can be yours, along with the exclusive pre-order bonus invite to a Q&A session. Simply let me know that you’ve reserved your copy and I’ll send the details over to you. Have a great week! Elizabeth P.S. Russ Parker, who is a project risk expert, said this about the book: “I didn't realize how much easier life could be until I opened the first edition of Managing Multiple Projects. And now, with the second edition, you get even more information and resources you need to manage multiple projects effectively. “As a seasoned project manager who has juggled multiple projects over the years, I find myself frequently referring back to this invaluable resource. The updated edition builds even more on its predecessor, offering a structured approach that's not only easy to understand but also immediately actionable. “One standout concept is 'Creating Your Personal Portfolio'-a strategy that has guided how I group and prioritize my projects. This method alone has been instrumental in aligning my work with my project goals. The lessons are clearly articulated, making it straightforward to integrate these strategies into your current projects. This book is a must-read for any project manager handling multiple projects – which, let's face it, is most of us. I wholeheartedly recommend this resource to all project managers seeking to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.” |

The PMO cycle states that the average PMO lasts 3-5 years and with the amount of requests I am getting for my keynote presentation on how to build a PMO, it is clear that the cycle holds true. One company might be shutting down a PMO whereas another company could be starting one up. Often times the catalyst for change is the arrival or departure of a major...

There has always been a tension between running the business and changing the business. As a project manager, my work leading change has often felt like it’s got in the way of my colleague’s ability to run the business. Project leaders are regularly told that ‘run’ takes priority: keeping the lights on is more important than whatever new thing I’m trying...
Hello Reader, The countdown is on to the launch of my new book, Managing Multiple Projects (2nd edition), that I mentioned in my email earlier this week! Managing Multiple Projects gives you the 5-step framework for juggling all your work and still leaving the office on time. It’s filled with proven practices and tips from project managers who have learned how to get on top of their workload. I am personally a bit wary about things that are marketed as “5-steps to XYZ” because can it really...
