Now is the best time to get good at focusing your time

Hello Reader,

In just a few days, I’ll be teaching a live paid workshop: The Productivity Blueprint for Project Managers: How to be Productive When You Run Out of Time Every Day.

(If you haven’t booked your spot yet, make sure to do it now! It’s on Monday 27 January at 7pm GMT(UK)/2pm EST/6am AEST.)

At this time of year, I start feeling overwhelmed with All The Things. So much to get ready for the new year. Work goals, new projects to kick off. All the things the children are supposed to be doing for school.

And this year it feels even more overwhelming because it doesn’t feel like I can plan with certainty.

As I put this training together, I keep thinking about how it’s not just work life that we need to be productive in. It’s a ‘whole life’ thing. All the strategies and tactics I’ll be sharing will help you manage your time and focus across whatever you are doing, whether that’s a huge programme or simply trying to make the first few months of this new year feel as settled and stable as you can for the people who matter.

I don’t want you to miss out on this workshop – I’ve put my best content together so you can walk away with clarity and proven strategies for managing the time you have in the best way.

I’ll be covering:

  • Why you need to think about all your work before you prioritise anything
  • Two options for prioritising when everything is important
  • How to use the time triangle to create boundaries you can stick to
  • ‘Triangle’ and ‘square’ time management strategies to work out what to do first
  • A whole bunch of tactics to get the most out of your time with others…
  • And more tactics to help you plan time to actually do your work.

Here’s what Juliet said about learning with me:

You have a really great and personable way of training - it’s open and refreshing. You cover what is needed in a straightforward way

The reading material was very comprehensive. It was great to learn new ways to use my time better. I found the webinar very insightful, the example on the Pareto methodology was very good and something I will start to practise.

And there were loads of positive comments in the webinar chat. I had great fun teaching it, and people seemed to get a lot out of the session.

The workshop is $19 and includes a bunch of awesome checklists and other materials to supercharge your productivity.

Register here for the live training!

If it turns out you can’t make it live, there will be a video replay that you will have access to afterwards, and you’ll also get the slides.

Don’t miss your chance to learn from my experience and ask me personally any questions you have at the live Q & A session after the training.

I’ll see you soon!

Best wishes

Elizabeth

I put off starting the Google Data Analytics course because I read that it was a big time commitment, and I didn’t really have time to feel like I was giving it my all. I was also a bit daunted about having to learn programming languages. I’ve now got round to starting the courses (at least), and this is my Google Data Analytics course review of the...

Hello Reader, Most people I speak to are managing more than one project – that’s just life these days as a PM. I like the variety, but the workload… not so much. I put together a webinar a while back that shared my top 5 tips for managing multiple projects. You can watch the replay – there’s no registration or login required. In the webinar, I talk about the key things that make it easier to juggle all the projects: Milestone planning Dependency management Multi-stakeholder management...

Hello Reader, It's International PMO Day today. This is a relatively new day, I think it started last year. International Project Management Day (November) has been around for many years, so why shouldn't PMOs get their chance to shine too? How to set up a PMO was one of the questions that people came back to me with when I asked what you’d like help on a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn’t call myself a PMO expert, although I have run a team of PMs in the past, so I turned to my friend Bill Dow...
