Hello Reader, I used to hate it when my manager went to Board meetings or ‘away days’ because he’d always come back with some new initiative or idea that would make it on to my To Do list. And of course, as it was already ‘board-approved’ there was the expectation that it would move to the top of the list and get done as a priority. All my other projects would magically make space for the latest, greatest idea. The only way we fixed that was to be firm with prioritizing what was important. (To be honest, it still happened, but at least I could fall back on the prioritization process.) Has this happened to you? Do you find yourself working on a never-ending list of ideas? Do you wonder how some departments seem to make a lot of progress, but your team’s To Do list gets longer as more work gets dumped on you? Getting your project pipeline under control is key to managing incoming work and making sure people are working on the priority initiatives. That’s why next week, on 11 February at 7pm GMT (UK) / 2pm EST / 6am AEST, I’m running a live masterclass to show you how to get a project prioritization process set up for your work. At this live training, you'll learn:
This session focuses on how to manage all the requests for new projects that hit your team. It's designed for people who do not yet have established PMO processes and who want a better way of managing incoming work across a team. The class is $19 (or £14), and you'll also get some templates to help you put your learning into practice.
Register here for the training! (at the bottom of the form is a link to pay in GBP if that suits you better). Hope to see you there! Best wishes Elizabeth |

Hello Reader, Whether you’re actively job hunting or just quietly wondering what your next step looks like, career progression in project management doesn’t happen by accident. We have to make a plan, move towards it, and take active steps to get what we want... something I've been very bad at recently! I've been thinking about going for a certification, reading about it and making a folder to store my notes in... but not actually doing anything towards it (although does watching a webinar...
Hello Reader, If you’re juggling too many deadlines, too many meetings, and too many “quick questions”, this one’s for you. Project management productivity isn’t about working longer hours. If anything, that's the opposite of what to do, that's the way to burnout and lack of focus. I feel more productive when I'm working deliberately. I’ve pulled together my best articles on productivity, time management, and work–life balance into one place so you can reset how you’re working, if you feel...
Hello Reader, At Project Forum last Tuesday, I attended a talk by James Garner and Yoshi Soornack on AI, because… well, FOMO really. The talk about AI is all over the place and staying up to date is tricky (some stats here about how it's actually being used). Two easy key takeaways for me were: Use AI as a thought partner, in much the same way as you chat about ideas to colleagues, but you can’t offload all cognition. Prescriptive analytics is the next step after predictive analytics – AI can...
