Who prioritizes your work?

Hello Reader,

Tomorrow is our masterclass on project prioritization.

We will be looking at some simple ways for getting clarity on what is the most important initiative at any given moment, and how you can feed that into your team’s strategic plans.

I’ll be honest – this is training aimed at people who don’t have a formal pipeline management process and tools to organize it all for you. If you have a mature PMO and portfolio management software, then you don’t need this class.

If you haven’t booked your spot yet, you haven’t got long! It’s tomorrow, 11 February, at 7 pm GMT (UK)/2 pm EST/6 am AEST.

Book now

Not that I’ve left it to the last minute or anything, but I’m still fiddling with the slides to make sure I can give you something practical, implementable, and with enough substance to help you share the knowledge with your leadership team and colleagues.

What would you like to know? What problems are you having with getting visibility of all your projects across a team? Even if you have no interest in coming along, I’d still be keen to know your views.

On the agenda so far:

  • The ICAD (Idea-Collect-Assess-Do) approach to formalizing what ideas turn into projects
  • 3 ways to assess projects and identify their relative priority with no arguments from stakeholders!
  • How to make sure projects are aligned with strategic priorities across the year (NB: this one relies on you knowing what your strategic priorities are, which might be a whole other conversation)

The training is $19 or £14 and includes a few templates to help you implement what you learn and share it with your team.

Register here for the training!

If you can’t make it live, you can still register and get access to the recording and you’ll also get the slides.

Don’t miss your chance to ask me personally any questions you have at the live Q & A session after the training.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you tomorrow!

Best wishes

Elizabeth

Hello Reader, I get asked about the difference between PMBOK and PRINCE2 a lot. Usually it’s because someone is working in an environment that references one or the other (or both) and they’re trying to figure out whether they need to know about both, whether one is better, or whether the whole debate is just exam prep noise. The short version is that they’re not competing frameworks. They’re not even trying to do the same job. The PMBOK Guide is a body of knowledge. It describes what good...

Hello Reader, I get asked about qualifications and certifications a lot. “Should I do PMP?” “Is PRINCE2 still relevant?” “Do I need Agile certification?” “Will this actually help me get promoted?” If you’re thinking about training or certification, I’ve pulled together my best articles in one place so you can make an informed decision rather than just following whatever’s trending on LinkedIn. Across RebelsGuideToPM.com you’ll find guidance on: How to choose the right qualification for your...

Hello Reader, I sat down with Mike Fesko recently for a podcast episode on how to lead multiple projects without burning out. We talked about: The “Sushi, Spaghetti, Side Dish” model for understanding your workload The hidden, invisible work PMs do that managers don’t see What “social capital” really means for project managers The three productivity saboteurs holding PMs back: perfectionism, indecisiveness and...
